Tempers flared during one of the Houston Texans’ first training camp practices of the summer.
Wednesday, an all-out fight broke out during Texans practice, including cornerback Devin Stingly leveling tight end Dalton Schultz, and benches from both the offense and defense clearing.

As Jonathan Alexander of the Houston Chronicle points out, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Stingley, and Schultz all were involved in the fight.
“It took six days, but the Texans finally had their first scuffle of training camp,” Alexander writes. “It started during the Texans’ two minute drill. C.J. Stroud threw a pass over the middle to wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs, who gained a few extra yards after the catch attempted to slide and get down, was hit by safety Jimmie Ward.
“Diggs and his teammates took exception to the hit and a scuffle ensued between the offense and defense.”
Fights are a part of NFL training camps, and how teams emerge from them can at times help build chemistry and character. This will be a situation worth monitoring for the Texans.
