The Houston Texans made it abundantly clear that they aren’t going to be messing around in 2024. This team means business and the fact that they traded for All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills is a testament to the same.
The arrival of Diggs, however, only means that the Texans will need to make room for their new star receiver.
Houston Texans Urged to Trade Robert Woods
The man who seems destined to be on the outside looking in is former Super Bowl champ Robert Woods. The veteran wideout played his first season in Houston last term, which according to NFL analyst Matt Holder of Bleacher Report, could be his last:
“After acquiring Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills, Woods likely won’t have much of a role in Houston’s offense this season. He’s also entering a contract year, so it would be wise to see what the team can get for him. The return for the 32-year-old likely won’t be much, but something is better than nothing,” Holder suggested.
This makes a lot of sense. As Holder points out, the Texans won’t get a major haul for Woods, but the 32-year-old still holds some value. There are multiple teams out there who are in need of additional depth in the wide receiver position, and they could show interest in an established player such as Woods.
Houston will need to temper their expectations, though, but as Holder stated above, trading Woods now would be more beneficial for the team as opposed to losing him for nothing in free agency next year.
