Houston Texans jump atop of NFL headlines by trading for superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster move. Texans add another weapon to help their rookie sensation quarterback C.J. Stroud.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Buffalo Bills are trading star wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 second-round draft pick, per a source. Rapoport adds that Buffalo also sends a 2024 sixth-rounder and a 2025 fifth-rounder to Houston.
This adds to head coach DeMeco Ryans’s busy offseason. The Texans have already added running back Joe Mixon, defensive end Danielle Hunter, and cornerbacks C.J. Henderson and Jeff Okudah.
Offensive Help for Houston Texans
Stroud had an impressive rookie season, which led to winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Texans and CJ Stroud ranked fifth in yards per pass last season with the help of Nico Collins and Noah Brown. They also ranked lowest in interceptions thrown per pass attempt. CJ led the Texans’ offense with the seventh-most pass yards per game in the NFL.
According to Next Gen Stats, Stefon Diggs has caught 284 passes against zone coverage since he joined the Bills in 2020, totaling a league-high +25.5 receptions over expected. Diggs will help C.J. Stroud improve his league-high +62.6 passing EPA against zone in 2023.
Diggs also accumulated 1,772 receiving yards on vertical routes during his Bills tenure, the fifth-most in the NFL over that span. Diggs is now joining Nico Collins, who recorded +169 receiving yards over expected on such routes last season (the fifth-most joining the Bills in 2020, totaling a league-high +25.5 receptions over expected help C.J. Stroud improvement, including a 2nd-roun in the NFL).

The city of Houston and C.J. Stroud will welcome the help. Diggs and Mixon, along with Collins, wide receiver Tank Dell, wide receiver Noah Brown, tight end Dalton Schultz, wide receiver John Metchie III, and veteran wide receiver Robert Woods, make this offense one of the top in the AFC.
