With the NFL draft rapidly approaching, one of the most respected prospect analyzers, NFL insider Daniel Jeremiah, recently updated his NFL Mock Draft on Tuesday. After having the Houston Texans select Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson in the first round of his 2024 NFL Mock Draft 1.0, Jeremiah now has the AFC South club making offense a priority with their 23rd overall pick. In his most recent mock, 2024 NFL Mock Draft 2.0, Houston selected LSU Tigers standout wideout Brian Thomas Jr.

Thomas Jr. is the fourth receiver selected in the first round of Jeremiah’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft 2.0. Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., his LSU teammate Malik Nabers, and Washington’s Rome Odunze were all selected before Thomas Jr. in Jeremiah’s updated mock.
Brian Thomas Jr.: Electric Season with LSU Tigers
A four-star prospect per 247Sports, Brian Thomas Jr. inked with the LSU Tigers in 2021. The Louisiana native posted 28 receptions for 359 yards and two scores as a freshman before posting similar stats as a sophomore. However, he exploded in terms of production last year.
Thomas Jr. finished the 2023 campaign with 68 receptions, 1,177 yards, and 17 touchdowns. The star wideout finished fourth in the SEC regarding catches and receiving yards while leading the country in receiving touchdowns. The lengthy six-foot-five receiver registered six games of at least 100 receiving yards, highlighted by a six-catch, 150-yard performance against the Florida Gators. He scored twice.
Houston Texans: Looking to Add More Offensive Firepower
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah believes the Houston Texans could add more talent to an already high-flying offense.
“Bringing in Thomas to join Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Houston would rival any team in the league for the best trio at wide receiver.”
LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr. would elevate a receiver room that houses Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Collins posted a career-best 80 catches for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He also shined in the postseason, with 11 receptions for 164 yards and a score across two games. Meanwhile, Dell, a third-round pick in the 2023 draft, operated as a true top receiver for most of last year. He collected 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven scores through eight games before suffering a season-ending leg injury. Dell had 25 catches, 369 yards, and five scores through four November games.
Adding Thomas to Collins and Dell would provide quarterback C.J. Stroud with one of the best receiver rooms in the league. Stroud already dominated last season, winning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year while throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns against five picks.
