During the summer, there’s not much that is going on in terms of football but the recruiting trail is alive and thriving, especially for the Tennessee Volunteers.
As of December 20th, 2023, 247Sports ranked the 2024 Tennessee recruiting class 13th nationally and seventh in the Southeastern Conference. The Vols have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season but looking more into the future to 2025, the recruitment of players is already thriving.
Recent Vols recruitment
On June 28, 2024, the Vols received a commitment from four-star edge rusher, Mariyon Dye.
Dye is a 6’5, 255-pound defensive end from Elkhart Central High School in Elkhart, Indiana who is a multi-sport talent having played basketball and football. In his high school career, Dye had 61 total tackles with an average of 4.4 per game. He also totaled four sacks in his varsity career.
According to On3 Rankings, Dye is ranked as a top-40 player and number five edge in the 2025 class. He also holds a 92.59 On3 industry ranking.
Dye brings a lot of energy and talent to a defensive unit that already has a strong defensive line. Since he’s coming in 2025, the defensive end won’t get to line up next to Vols star, James Pearce Jr. but he brings stout talent and will be able to strengthen the defensive unit once he arrives.
The Tennessee Volunteers have a bright future ahead of them and if the recruiting trail continues to grab players like Mariyon Dye, they’ll be in incredible shape for years to come.
