Injury History
Injuries are an unfortunate part of football. Multiple key players like J.C Jackson, Breece Hall, and Mike Williams recently experienced serious injuries, with some being season-ending. The football gods haven’t been kind to Parris Campbell. Campbell has endured multiple injuries since being drafted in 2019.
According to Draft Sharks, during his rookie season, Parris Campbell broke his foot against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During the 2020 season, Campbell suffered a PCL and MCL injury on a jet-sweep play against the Minnesota Vikings. Last season Campbell injured his foot after catching a touchdown against the Houston Texans.
Campbell’s injuries have been hard on Colt’s fans. When Campbell was drafted fans, coaches, and teammates expected him to make an immediate impact. Campbell was a swiss army knife at Ohio State. As a Buckeye Campbell caught screen passes, ran jet-sweeps, and displayed blazing speed. Parris Campbell hasn’t been able to show these skills at the professional level because of his injuries. Every time he would conquer an injury another injury would occur. It was the same story each season and the script never changed for Campbell.
Current Impact
Parris Campbell has been a bright spot on a struggling football team. Campbell has caught 28 passes, recorded 239 receiving yards, and scored two touchdowns. Campbell is showing why the Colts drafted him. He has been reliable and steadily improved with more targets. Head Coach Frank Reich said, he has to find ways to get Campbell the ball.
Indianapolis has a young wide receiver core. Campbell currently ranks third in receiving yards behind Michael Pittman Jr and Alec Pierce.
Future
The Colts have a lot to figure out after the 2022 season. Indy will have to decide if they want to give Parris Campbell a contract extension. Campbell is on the last year of his rookie deal.
