Despite its once formidable reputation as an earmarked point on every NFL fan’s calendar, giving a unique glimpse and insight into the inner workings of an NFL franchise, Hard Knocks is not what it once was.
Hard Knocks Facing A Decline In Interest Over Competition
With production changes that have allowed teams virtually complete control over the final editing process, which just last year included the removal of the infamous “cut” scene at the end of the series, where players learn if they have, or have not, made the final 53 man roster, the end product for Hard Knocks has become less and less enticing.
Equally, with the rise of team-produced docuseries, like the Arizona Cardinals’ “Flight Plan”, or the Indianapolis Colts’ “With The Next Pick”, that give as good, sometimes better windows into a franchise’s operations, Hard Knocks is at risk of becoming redundant.
With the fairly recent addition of Hard Knocks, In Season; the NFL have attempted to draw eyeballs back to the faltering program. But now, it seems like they are going one step further and rejigging the traditional Hard Knocks format even further, per Mike Garafolo.
NFL’s Brian Rolapp says in-season Hard Knocks will now focus on an entire division, not just one team. That division has not yet been decided.

Hard Knocks In Season To Now Feature An Entire NFL Division
Although Hard Knocks In Season has not been quite the commercial success that the original version has been, this new switch in formula is designed to give more viewers inside access into how their team works, prepares and operates in their day-to-day regimes.
Clearly, the NFL feels like reaching a broader audience’s teams, even if they cover a little less material, will be beneficial for both the fans, and the future of the tv show.
It will remain to be seen whether this new format upheaval can alter the fortunes of the show. And, who will be set to be the next team featured on the series’ premier show in August
