The New York Jets are bracing to be on Hard Knocks this season. While they reportedly have no desire to be on the show, they may not have a choice. The NFL can force a team to be on the show if they meet certain benchmarks. The Jets are one of four teams that can be required to be on the show. One analyst says that this is the “last thing” the team needs this season.
Hard Knocks Is The “Last Thing” The New York Jets Need
Mike “Mad Dog” Adams went on ESPN’s First Take this morning and thinks this would be disastrous for the Jets. There is so much drama already surrounding the team with the Aaron Rodgers trade that they do not need to have the pressure of camera crews constantly around. With the age of Rodgers, the Jets are in a win-now mode and need to focus on making sure that the offense ascends and the defense stays at the level it was in 2022. While it may be the last thing they need, the Jets may not have a choice.
Good Television
It makes sense why the NFL wants to feature the Jets on the show. They are a very interesting team. Rodgers is coming off of a very public feud with his former team. Sauce Gardner has been talking trash all offseason. The Jets haven’t won a Super Bowl since the third iteration of the game. They are the team that casual fans want to watch. The other teams the NFL can force to be on the show are the Saints, Bears, and Commanders. Out of those the Commanders are the most interesting because of the impending sale but that most likely will not be process by the time the show premiers.
The New York Jets are going to have to find a way to make the Hard Knocks thing work. At this point, they can’t let it interrupt their ultimate goal.
