The 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame class has a lot of exciting players but one member of the incoming class is dealing with a severe sickness and was hospitalized on Thursday night. Legendary Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael was taken to the hospital and the illness could be life-threatening as he has been diagnosed with ALS since 2021.
In a statement from his publicist, Steve McMichael’s family were asking for prayers for Mongo at this time.
“We are asking for prayers for Steve McMichael. He is going to the Emergency Room now with suspected pneumonia. We will inform you as we have more updates. Thank You. The McMichael Family”
McMichael has been a legendary figure in the world of football as he is a five-time All-Pro defensive tackle, second in Chicago Bears history in sacks and third in tackles. He was part of the Chicago Bears from 1981 to 1993 and throughout his 15-year career recorded 847 total tackles, 95.0 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, 17 fumble recoveries, three safeties and two interceptions.
All of us at Gridiron Heroics have our thoughts and prayers with the 2024 Hall of Famer Steve McMichael and his family at this time.
Who are the Class of 2024 Pro Football Hall of Famers?
The Pro Football Hall of Fame has been one of the most difficult to get into as it was announced during the NFL Honors before Super Bowl 58 that this year will be a seven-member class. This year’s class will include Steve McMichael, Randy Gradishar, Dwight Freeney, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, Julius Peppers and Patrick Willis.
McMichael was voted in by the Senior committee and was represented by his wife, Misty, during the Hall of Fame announcement in Las Vegas ahead of the Super Bowl.
