Greg Dortch is excited to return for the Arizona Cardinals next season, as he decided to stay for at least one more year this summer.
“More motivated than I’ve ever been!! Excited to be back in Arizona again next season! 🙏 All glory to God #justanundersizedkidfromRichmondVa,” wrote Dortch on his X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday.
The 25-year-old wideout was one of the team’s exclusive rights free agents besides Jonathan Ledbetter, but he signed a qualifying offer that was tendered to him to keep him from being an unrestricted free agent.
Greg Dortch has been a fan favorite since arriving at the dessert in 2021. Before joining the Arizona Cardinals, the undrafted Wake Forest product had stints with the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams, and Atlanta Falcons.
Why Greg Dortch is a popular player for the Arizona Cardinals
After only suiting up for five regular-season games in 2021, Greg Dortch played his first full season in 2022, where he was quite productive. In the said season, the 5’7″ receiver tallied 52 receptions on 467 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Greg Dortch was one of the most reliable targets for Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals because he was second in the NFL in catch percentage, according to NextGenStats (52 receptions on 64 targets, 81.3%).
Besides being a wideout, Greg Dortch played both as a punt and kick returner. Last season, Dortch played just 38 percent of the team’s offensive snaps, but he was second on the team with 11.7 yards per catch. The 25-year-old recorded 22 receptions on 266 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 15 regular-season games.
“Greg made a lot of plays when he got an opportunity,” said Arizona Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort. “Greg’s a guy who’s always ready to take advantage of whatever opportunity he gets, and when he’s taking advantage of those opportunities, he earns more opportunities. So, Greg does a great job for us. He’s tough, and he’s physical after the catch for a smaller guy.”
