The Green Bay Packers have wrapped up mandatory minicamp and players are departing Lambeau Field until training camp begins in five weeks. The short few days of practice gave fans plenty to be excited about though, as well as some interesting situations to debate over the next month.
Jordan Love’s 70+ yard touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman on Wednesday went viral on social media. The three-time Super Bowl Champion with the Kansas City Chiefs faces a uphill battle to make the 53-man roster, but has fans excited for the battle that is to come.
Along that same vein, wide receiver Bo Melton, in an effort to better his own chances of making the roster, started practicing with the defensive backs. Melton’s brother, Max Melton, is a starting cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals.
Green Bay Packers Fans Were Excited to See Christian Watson Looking Good with the Rehab Group

While the Packers rarely allow footage of players practicing, media members are allowed to share video of players warming up rehabbing. One of the players who was with the rehab group was wide receiver Christian Watson, who is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 18.
As one might expect, Watson is believed to miss the start of the 2025 NFL season as he continues his recovery. But footage of how well he was moving during his work with the rehab group had fans very excited:

Even without Watson, the Packers already have five wide receivers that can be considered locks for their 53-man roster. Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden, and Savion Williams will likely hold the top five spots, with players like Hardman, Bo Melton, and Malik Heath competing for one other spot.
But if Watson were to somehow be healthy enough to play in Week One, that would drastically change the wide receiver room.
That, however, does not appear likely.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Does Not Think Christian Watson Will Return Early

Wm. Glasheen USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin
After practice on Thursday, LaFleur addressed the media for the final time until training camp. During this session, he was asked if, based on how well Watson appears to be doing, his star wide receiver would be able to return early.
“Probably not, to be honest,” LaFleur replied.
“The guys that are available, that’s who you coach and that’s kind of where you focus. It is exciting to see how far along he is, he’s been doing a great job, he attacks it the right way. Our trainers have done an outstanding job with him. I think he’s in the best spot possible considering the circumstance.”
Last season, Watson had 29 receptions for a career-high 620 yards and three touchdowns. He also set a career-high in yards per reception with 21.4.
