The Green Bay Packers pretty much had no business winning their Thanksgiving showdown against the Detroit Lions. However, Jordan Love and Co. upset the odds by pulling off a massive 29-22 win over their NFC North rivals.
It was a much-needed win for Green Bay, who now appears to have momentum on their side ahead of what they’re hoping will be a strong playoff push toward the latter part of the season.
Jordan Love Sounds Off on Green Bay Packers’ Victory
Jordan Love was the star of the show for the Packers, 22-of-32 with his passes for 268 yards, three touchdowns, and zero turnovers. It was another massive performance for Green Bay’s young quarterback, who was coming off his first-ever 300-yard game in their previous win.
After taking down the Lions, Love revealed how important this victory was for the Packers:
“Just part of the process,” Love said, via Mike Spofford of the team website. “Just taking it week by week right now. We need to win every week is the mindset we have. This was a huge win that we needed.”
Matt LaFleur Echoes Jordan Love’s Statement
Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur had a similar message after his team’s huge win. Love heaped praise on his team as he expressed his delight in the victory:
“Hopefully we gave Packers fans a lot to cheer about today,” LaFleur said. “That was a hard-fought win against a really, really good football team. I can’t say enough about our guys in terms of their belief in one another.
“Guys were juiced up and ready to play. They’re supported one another though all the ups and downs, and hopefully we’re starting to catch our stride a little bit.”
The Packers will want to keep it going on Sunday when they take on the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs. It’s obviously going to be an extremely tough test for Green Bay and their postseason aspirations this season, but it also goes without saying that securing a win against Patrick Mahomes and Co. would be absolutely huge.
