The Green Bay Packers had a 2023 season to remember. A large part of this is due to the rise of QB Jordan Love during his first full season as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
Because of this, it has left many people wondering what kind of future Love will have with the Packers. This morning, a Packers executive gave us a crucial update as to what that looks like. Read below to find out more.
Jordan Love Expected to Get Contract Extension Before Training Camp

This morning, Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst was interviewed by Steve Czaban and Brian Butch on 97.3 The Game. During that interview, Gutekunst was asked about Jordan Love’s contract situation. Then, Gutekunst gave a very encouraging update, revealing that he expects this to get done very soon:
“We’re in those conversations right now. Both parties want the same thing. We’d like to get this done before training camp for sure.” -Brian Gutekunst

Love certainly made his case for a big contract after the 2023 season. For starters, he led the Packers to a historical playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys. Green Bay also went 6-2 in their final eight regular season games to clinch the final playoff spot in the NFC.
Statistically, Love had a pretty notable season as well. He had 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdown passes, and just 11 interceptions. In the wild card victory over the Cowboys, Love threw three touchdown passes and had 272 passing yards.
Green Bay Packers Moving Forward

Jordan Love is expected to make just under $13 million in 2024. At the time of writing, he is an unrestricted free agent in 2025. However, given the recent statement by Gutekunst, this status should not last much longer.
Love is likely going to get a significant pay raise. He could very easily end up making triple the money he is currently expected to receive annually. This could make managing the salary cap a bigger challenge for the Packers moving forward.
However, given that Love’s extension is expected to get done before training camp just one season after he became the full-time starter, the Packers seem to have a lot of confidence that Love is the right man for the job. Now, Green Bay will look to take another step forward in a competitive NFC North division after making the divisional round of the playoffs last season.
