Legendary Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre Says Jordan Love Could Be Future HOFer

Legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre started a multiple-decade-long train of elite quarterbacks who were able to call Lambeau Field their home.

Favre was followed by Aaron Rodgers, who was followed by Jordan Love. Favre has now come out and explained, as someone who was once in his position, that Love can be one of the top QBs in the league when it’s all said and done.

In an interview on “The Zach Gelb Show,” Favre went on to say that Love could not only manage to bring the Lombardi Trophy home to Green Bay but that he could one day find his way into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Favre acknowledged that Love’s sample size of a single season isn’t quite large enough, but that doing what Love managed to do during the latter portion of the 2024 season indicates something special.

Love helped propel the Packers past the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. They were just a play away from beating the eventual Super Bowl runner-up Sanf Rancisco 49ers in the divisional round of the 2023 playoffs.

If Love could find a way to win a playoff game in his first season with the youngest roster in the NFL, there is no telling as to what he could do with some years of experience as a starter under his belt along with a team that has a more substantial veteran presence.

The Green Bay Packers also believe in Jordan Love

Favre isn’t the only one who believes Love can take the Packers to the promised land. The Packers organization seems to believe the same thing to be true, as shown by the massive contract they gave to Love ahead of the 2024 season.

Love and Green Bay agreed to a four-year, $220 million contract extension that made him tied for being the highest-paid player in the history of the NFL. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the contract also included a record-high $75 million signing bonus.

Other quarterbacks earning as much as Love are Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow and Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, both of which are set to be their respective franchise’s QBs for years to come.

Love and the Packers, who were a young team without much familiarity with each other, struggled to start the 2023 season.

The team was still searching for an identity in their first few games without Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre as their main guy. Love personally struggled, throwing for 2,009 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on an 80.5 passer rating and a 58.7% completion rate in the first nine games.

Love and the Packers found themselves sitting at 3-6 before things began to click and the Packers were able to figure out who they were as a team. Love proceeded to go on a tear, throwing for 2,150 yards and 18 touchdowns with a staggering singular interception to finish out the season.

Love had a 70.3% completion rate and a 112.7 passer rating after his slow start to the season. Green Bay finished with a 6-2 record and a statement win over the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs.

Love dominated the Cowboys on their own home turf, missing on just five passes en route to a 272-yard, three-touchdown performance. The strong back half of the season allowed Love and the Packers to approach 2024 with a different mindset, as Love described in an article from Bleacher Report.

“Last year there was a lot of question marks with everybody on our team,” Love said. “We had a lot of young players and guys trying to prove themselves. Now, guys kind of made names for themselves and teams know what we are about. Our mindset is definitely elevated as a team in the locker room.”

If Love and company are able to pick up where they left off in 2023, Favre’s predictions could prove to be true.
