The Green Bay Packers have a bright future after successfully finding another outstanding quarterback in Jordan Love. Their game plan now is to find the right pieces to surround him with so they can start making a serious push for the Super Bowl.
They don’t have a high pick in the 2024 NFL Draft since they made the divisional round last season, so many of the top prospects of the draft would be off the board by then. However, there are plenty of high-ceiling players they can select to help them transform into a Super Bowl-winning contender immediately.
Analyst predicts Cooper DeJean is likeliest Green Bay Packers pick in 2024 NFL Draft
According to Yardbarker’s Mike Santa Barbara, the most likely name who will be selected by the Green Bay Packers during the draft is Iowa corner Cooper DeJean.
He wrote about the biggest reason why he’s the most likely name to be pulled by the Packers during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft:
For some time, the most popular player mocked to the Packers has been DeJean, and for good reason. As Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com put it, the versatile DeJean “just feels like a Packers player,” and the former Iowa standout can conveniently play cornerback and safety. A Swiss-army knife coming from a pro-style defense in college, the consensus All-American brings speed and top-notch coverage skills that would be hard for Green Bay to pass up.
In his final year for Iowa, DeJean made 26 solo tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions for 41 yards, and five touchdowns. While these numbers don’t compare to his incredible 2022 production, he has the tools to make him a quality contributor to the Packers.
Outstanding offensive linemen are also possible selections
If DeJean is out of the draft pool by the Packers’ pick, Santa Barbara suggested that their other possible selections will look to improve the offensive line.
Two linemen are heavily linked with Green Bay, and they’ve shown tremendous quality throughout their collegiate careers.
Jackson Powers-Johnson is a possible selection who has plenty of experience playing right tackle and guard. The former Oregon Duck can hold the line with the best of them thanks to his 6’3″, 328-lb frame.
The other lineman who could slot in perfectly in the trenches is Troy Fautanu. The Washington product has a slightly larger frame than Powers-Johnson at 6’4″ and 317 lbs, and he uses a combination of speed and power to protect the QB.
Regardless of which offensive lineman they choose, they will get a talented young athlete who can keep up with modern NFL defenses.
