Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre is still an immensely popular figure in the state of Wisconsin. This is, of course, because of his Hall of Fame career with the team, his victory in Super Bowl XXXI, and his down-to-earth personality that resonated with so many of Green Bay’s blue collar fans.
Over the years, many Republican political candidates have asked Favre to endorse them in the state because of his popularity in Wisconsin despite his residing in Mississippi.
Just last year, Favre was in Green Bay with now United States President Donald Trump at a rally in which he endorsed his frequent golf partner and friend. He also endorsed Brad Schimel for the state supreme court before he was defeated Susan Crawford.

Earlier this month, the conservative X (formerly Twitter) account Wisconsin Right Now posted, “Dear @BrettFavre, would you consider running against @GovEvers?”
This post fuel speculation that the former Packers quarterback might run for Governor of Wisconsin, despite the fact that he is not a resident of the state.
Per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, that is not something the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback is planning on doing:
But a spokesperson for Favre told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel “that is not in the cards for him.”
Of course, a run for any political office would mean that many of the skeletons in Favre’s closet would be exposed again. From his controversial text messaging with Jenn Sterger while playing with the New York Jets to the Mississippi Welfare Scandal, there are plenty of things any potential political opponent would be able to use against him in a race.
It probably is for the best that he sits out any such races.
