The Green Bay Packers, along with all the other NFL teams, released their schedule for the upcoming season. While their opponents, both home and away, have been known for months, they now know in which week they will face each opposing team.
Green Bay’s 2025 schedule also included a few pleasant surprises. For the first time in the Matt LaFleur Era (he started coaching the team in 2019), the Packers will open the regular season at home. Their opponent for this matchup is the Detroit Lions, whom they have not faced in Week One since 2001.
The Packers will play four Prime Time games this season, though that could change late in the season if their Week 17 and 18 matchups are determined to be worthy of such a slot. Right now they are TBD in terms of exact date and time.
Of course, their 2025 marathon will pit them against several former Packers players.
Week 1: vs Detroit Lions- September 7 @ 3:25 on CBS

Mjs Apc Packers Vs Jets 1410 082121wag
The Detroit Lions won the NFC North for the second year in a row last season. They will be without their offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson (who took the Chicago Bears head coaching job) and defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn (who took over the New York Jets). However, they have a stacked roster that includes one former Packers player: Malik Taylor.
Taylor played for Green Bay from 2020-21. He did not see offensive snaps often, racking up just seven receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown in that time.
Week 2: vs Washington Commanders- September 11 @ 7:15 on Prime Video
The Packers do not have much of a turnaround after Week One. Four days later, they will face the Washington Commanders, who finished 2024 11-6 with then-rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels under center.
They do not have any former Packers players on their current roster, though local fans may be interested in watching Wisconsin Badgers product Tyler Biadasz, who is their starting center.
Week 3: @ Cleveland Browns- September 21 @ 12:00 on FOX
Who knows? This could be the first ever matchup between Packers star quarterback Jordan Love and Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders, whose fall in the 2025 NFL Draft will be talked about for years.
Like the Lions, the Browns only have one former Packer on their roster: punter Corey Bojorquez, who played for Green Bay in 2021.
Week 4: @ Dallas Cowboys- September 28 @7:20 on NBC
Like the Commanders, the Dallas Cowboys do not have any former Packers on their roster. Still, this matchup will be heavily viewed as the Packers have not lost a game at AT&T Stadium since it opened. It is where they won the Super Bowl in 2011, after all. Additionally, they have more postseason victories there than the Cowboys themselves.
But while there are not any former Packers players in Dallas right now, Badgers fans can get a glimpse of Barry Alvarez’s grandson, Jake Ferguson, as well as Jack Sanborn.
Week 5: Bye Week
The last time the Packers had a Bye Week this early, the year was 2020. They went 13-3 and went to the NFC Championship Game, which they may have won if David Bakhtiari had not torn his ACL in practice late in the year.
Week 6: vs Cincinnati Bengals- October 12 @ 3:25 on CBS

Ever since Green Bay passed on Tee Higgins in favor of Love in the 2020 NFL Draft, Packers fans fantasized about what their team would look like with him on it. Earlier this offseason, before he signed his extension, some fans thought the Packers might have a shot at signing him in free agency.
Of course, they did not.
Higgins, the wide receiver many wish would have been a Packer, has some former Green Bay players that have joined him though. Former offensive lineman Lucas Patrick signed with the Bengals earlier this offseason. More recently, defensive tackle TJ Slaton, Green Bay’s best run defender on the defensive line, also joined Cincinnati.
Oren Burks, who forced the Keisean Nixon fumble in the Wild Card round last year and won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, also signed with the Bengals this offseason.
Week 7: @ Arizona Cardinals- October 19 @ 3:25 on FOX
If wide receiver Bo Melton makes the Packers roster, this game would pit him against his brother, Max Melton, who is a defensive back for the Arizona Cardinals.
There are two former Green Bay players on Arizona’s roster, neither of whom are too fondly remembered by Packers fans. Josiah Deguara, a third round pick in 2020, never panned out and recently signed with Cardinals following a year with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The other is Royce Newman, a 2021 fourth round pick, who might be one of the worst Packers offensive line projects in recent memory.
Week 8: @ Pittsburgh Steelers- October 26 @ 7:20 on NBC

Oh the storylines that this matchup could bring! If former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he will face one of his former teams, the New York Jets, in Week One, and then his other former team, Green Bay, in Week Eight.
This, of course, would be must-see TV for fans of any NFL team, and the fact that the matchup is in Prime Time is a good indication that the four-time NFL MVP will be signing with Pittsburgh.
By the way, the Packers have not won on the road against the Steelers since 1970, when Bart Starr was their starting quarterback.
After Pittsburgh parted ways with Preston Smith following the 2024, Dean Lowry remains the only former Green Bay player on their roster. They also boast former Wisconsin stars TJ Watt, Nick Herbig, and Keeanu Benton.
Week 9: vs Carolina Panthers- November 2 @ 12:00 on FOX
Will Jaire Alexander be on the team in 2025? If he is, will be named a captain for this game?
If he is, all eyes will surely be on the coin toss.
The only former Packers player on the Carolina Panthers is Yosh Nijman.
Week 10: vs Philadelphia Eagles- November 10 @7:15 on ESPN

After losing to the Philadelphia Eagles twice in 2024, once in Week One and again in the playoffs, the Packers will hope that home field advantage in November might give them a slight edge.
Of course, the most notable (and only) former Packer on the Eagles right now is AJ Dillon, who signed as a free agent this offseason. He did not play at all for Green Bay in 2024 due to a neck injury, but is hoping to continue his career backing up Saquon Barkley.
Week 11: @ New York Giants- November 16 @ 12:00 on FOX
The New York Giants have been rather irrelevant for quite some time. However, the Packers have not beaten them since 2019 and have lost their last two matchups with New York (one of which was played in London).
The Giants currently have two former Green Bay players expected to start on their offensive line: Greg Van Roten and Jon Runyan. They also have former Packers seventh round pick Anthony Johnson Jr. on their roster. Additionally, for Green Bay safety Ty Summers is currently donning a Giants uniform.
Week 12: vs Minnesota Vikings- November 23 @ 12:00 on FOX

It seems strange that Green Bay would get to Week 12 with only one divisional game played, but that is the case the season, and their first matchup with the Minnesota Vikings comes late in the season.
Of course, Aaron Jones, who is still beloved by Packers fans, is the most notable former Green Bay player on Minnesota’s roster. He is joined by Eric Wilson, who played for the Packers from 2022-2024. This is actually Wilson’s second stint with the Vikings, as he spent with first four years of his career with them from 2017-2020.
Week 13: @ Detroit Lions- November 27 @ 12:00 on FOX
As mentioned, Malik Taylor is the only former Packers player on Detroit’s roster right now.
This is the third year in a row in which Green Bay will play on Thanksgiving. They hosted the Miami Dolphins at Lambeau Field last year.
Week 14: vs Chicago Bears- December 7 @ 12:00 on FOX
The Chicago Bears were the only divisional team that the Packers beat last year as they went 1-5 against NFC North teams. This will be their fourth division game of the season, which will hopefully see them with more wins at this point than they had in 2024.
Former Green Bay wide receiver Samori Toure is currently on Chicago’s roster, though whether or not he makes the team remains to be seen. Jonathan Owens, who played for Green Bay in 2023, is entering his second season with the Bears.
Week 15: @ Denver Broncos- December 14 @ 3:25 on CBS
The Denver Broncos do not have any former Packers players on their roster.
What fans should be watching for, though, is whether or not Green Bay can win on the road in Denver for the first time since 2007. They are 0-2 there since. Prior to that 2007 win, which was accomplished in overtime, the Packers had never beaten the Broncos on the road.
Week 16: @ Chicago Bears- December 20 @ 3:30 or 7:00 on FOX
See Week 14 for former Packers playing for the Bears.
Week 17: vs Baltimore Ravens- December 27 or 28 (Time and Station TBD)
There are no former Packers playing for the Baltimore Ravens
Week 18: @ Minnesota Vikings- January 3 or 4 (Time and Station TBD)
See Week 12 for former Packers playing for the Vikings.
