Georgie tight end Brock Bowers is one of the most dynamic college football players in the nation. Slated as a top pick in next year’s NFL draft, the tight end has been one of the most dominating players in college football. Fans were concerned when he went out of the game against Vanderbilt with an ankle injury. It now seems that the team will be without Bowers for a significant amount of time thanks to the injury.
Georgia Tight End Brock Bowers To Miss Significant Time
Seth Emerson of The Athletic reported that Bowers will have surgery “to stabilize the ankle” and will miss somewhere between 4-6 weeks. It is worth noting that fellow tight end Lawson Luckie underwent a similar surgery and was out for six weeks. Obviously, everybody is different but it seems that this is more likely to be a six-week injury. While the Bulldogs head into the bye week after starting 7-0, Bowers will miss some huge matchups.
Can The Bulldogs Survive?
The bye week is nice but after that, they head to “The Swamp” to take on rival Florida. After that, three straight currently ranked teams are waiting for them in Missouri, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. At that point, Bowers could be back for the final game against Georgia Tech and any conference championship games if the team can make it. The good news is Kirby Smart‘s squad has no shortage of talent but any time you lose a player of this caliber, the team is going to feel it. It will be interesting to see how the offense adapts in his absence.
Georgia will have to figure out how to run an offense without Brock Bowers for the time being. Hopefully, the Bulldogs can hold it together and get Bowers back for another national championship run.
