“NIL Ruined Him” – Georgia Football Fans Erupt After QB Carson Beck Has Another Brutal 3-Interception Game

Georgia football survived a scare against the Florida Gators on Saturday to improve their record to 7-1. However, if not for an injury to Florida star freshman quarterback DJ Lagway, Georgia might not have emerged victorious, given they trailed 13-6 at halftime. Midway through the second quarter, Lagway suffered a brutal hamstring injury, with third-string passer Aidan Warner coming on in relief. Florida scored ten points in four drives with Lagway, compared to ten in eleven with Warner. Lagway’s untimely injury likely played a significant role in the Georgia Bulldogs pulling away late, especially with his counterpart, Carson Beck, again struggling in 2024.

On Saturday, Beck tossed three interceptions, with two coming on back-to-back drives in the second quarter. A year after leading the SEC with 3,941 yards for 24 touchdowns against six interceptions, Beck has thrown 11 picks across eight games this season. Notably, without superstar tight end Brock Bowers, Beck has had issues with turnovers this year, with Georgia football fans worried about their College Football Playoff outlook with him under center.

According to college football writer Chris Hummer:

That’s 10 interceptions by Carson Beck in Georgia’s last five games.

He threw just six INTs all year in 2023.

In his last five games, Georgia football star quarterback Carson Beck has tossed ten interceptions, more than he had in the previous three seasons combined. This offseason, Georgia lost talented pass-catchers Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey to the 2024 NFL Draft, while pass-catcher Rara Thomas is no longer with the team after facing charges of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of family violence battery. The subtraction of familiar playmakers and a more pass-happy gameplan has led to more mistakes from Beck. Following their 34-20 win over Florida, Beck has collected 17 passing touchdowns to ten interceptions in 2024.

Albeit 7-1 and likely to debut in the top five of the College Football Playoff rankings, Beck has struggled to duplicate his season last year, a campaign that springboarded him to Heisman talk this offseason. In their lone season loss against rival Alabama, Beck also threw three interceptions on a career-high 50 pass attempts. Beck’s recent struggles have Georgia football fans debating on the team’s offensive gameplan going forward:
