‘League Owes Him An Apology’: Pittsburgh Steelers QB Justin Fields Is Backed By NFL Fans

Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Justin Fields received a lot of love from NFL fans on Tuesday. Fields treatment by the Chicago Bears was scrutinized after Fields’ replacement in Chicago, Caleb Williams, lost his eighth game in a row in a 30-12 blowout against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Bears are 4-10 in Williams’ first season in the league. Fields. who started the Steelers’ first six games of the season while Russell Wilson recovered from a calf injury, went 4-2. Fields was on track for his first winning season of his four-year career.

The Chicago Bears are a mess

It’s unclear how the Bears would fare if Fields was under center in Chicago in 2024. Much like how things were in Fields’ first three seasons in the league, the Bears are finding ways to embarrass themselves on a national stage.

Like with Fields, the Bears haven’t been overly helpful in aiding Williams this season. The offensive line and running attack is atrocious. Chicago’s fired head coach Matt Eberflus the day after their Thanksgiving end-of-game debacle.

The No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft is on his third offensive coordinator since October, with Shane Waldron being fired after the Bears’ 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots, and Thomas Brown taking over the interim head coaching role, Chris Beatty holds the OC role with three games remaining.

Oh, and there’s an ongoing power struggle between CEO Kevin Warren and general manager Ryan Poles as to who is in charge of personnel matters.

Pittsburgh Steelers backup QB Justin Fields is owed an apology

Yep, the Bears owe many people an apology, including Fields.

The Bears allowed then-general manager Ryan Pace to give then-head coach Matt Nagy Fields in the 2021 draft knowing they were on the hot seat. Chicago then trusted Eberflus, a rookie and defensive-minded head coach (who the Indianapolis Colts were set to fire from their DC role) to develop Fields with first-time offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.

    Sorry Fields.

Here are some of the comments on social media about how the Bears screwed Fields over.

“Caleb Williams is gonna win less games than Justin fields did last year with a better defense and better skill players . A lot of people owe him an apology Right now,” wrote a fan.

“FIELDS WAS NEVER THE PROBLEM! Look at his resume in Pitt and you’ll see,” posted another.

“The entire league owes him an apology,” suggested a fan. “I never really understand why bears fan hate him so much considering both him and Caleb are/were going through the same issues in Chicago. Is Justin Fields better than Caleb? No. Justin Fields went 4-2 going against some pretty tough defenses and was playing decent-promising. It’s not a coincidence that once he joined a team that actually has suability and care about developing him. He started playing a lot better than he did in previous years. COACHING MATTERS!”

“I was not high on Justin Fields as a prospect, coming out of college. Where the apology comes in at is when you look at the porous job they did of developing him as a passer. Even TRYING to develop him as a passer. It wasn’t a priority for them and he could’ve improved,” one person posted.

“Been owed him an apology,” wrote another.
