The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off of another dominant season. However, they couldn’t quite finish the job and lost to Alabama in the SEC championship game leaving them out of the College Football Playoff. Now, they are dealing with many players leaving via the transfer portal. Edge rusher Marvin Jones Jr. announced his intention to enter the transfer portal today.

Georgia Bulldogs Lose Marvin Jones Jr. To The Transfer Portal
Jones Jr. has been with the Bulldogs for the past two seasons. While he has seen the field, it has been in more of a reserve role thanks to the glut of talent that the team has on the roster. In his two seasons in Athens, he has racked up 16 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. More than likely this is a move motivated by more playing time. This is a loss for Georgia as Jones Jr. was the No. 20 overall recruit and No. 4 edge in the 2022 cycle. Losing that kind of talent is not what you want to see.
Georgia Will Be Fine But Cracks Starting To Show
There has been quite the laundry list of players that are leaving via the portal. Some of this is the new college football landscape where a lot of players move programs but this isn’t happening to every school. Concerns are also coming in that top recruit Dylan Railoa might be flipping to Nebraska. While Georgia will be just fine and has a lot of talent coming in, the cracks are starting to show a little bit and it may be something that head coach Kirby Smart will have to deal with.
Can the Georgia Bulldogs get back on top of the college football world in 2024? The SEC will be harder next year but they should be one of the many teams in the mix at the end of the season.
