Before Tuesday night’s rankings, the Bulldogs and Kirby Smart were out of the college football playoff picture. On Tuesday night, they were back in the playoff picture and would be facing the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road if the season ended today.

There is no doubt that a lot of people are not big fans of the college football playoff committee this season. One of those critics is Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart. He said about their criteria to make the playoffs this season:

“It’s a hard one because I don’t know what they’re looking for. They can’t define that…”

It will be interesting to see who will win tiebreakers in the SEC Conference for teams who will need at-large bids. There is a chance that the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, and Ole Miss Rebels finish with the same record and get left out of the playoffs. The Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies are also in contention.

There are a lot of college football fans who are upset about the SEC bias. The truth is that they will at least get four teams in the college football playoffs and there is a chance that five of them get in depending on what happens for the remainder of the 2024 college football season. As long as the Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart don’t slip up in the final two weeks of the season, they will most likely get into the field of 12 teams.
