Georgia Bulldogs fans seemed pretty excited about the news this week Nick Saban is retiring from college football. Bulldogs fans are even more excited Alabama hired Kalen DeBoer away from Washington as Saban’s replacement.
DeBoer isn’t the sexiest hire the Crimson Tide could have made. He has four years of head coaching experience at the D1 level. More importantly to Georgia, DeBoer has zero years of coaching experience in the SEC.
Georgia will be the first SEC opponent DeBoer faces as the head coach of Alabama next season. The two teams will face off on Sept. 28 in a game that could determine which team will go to the playoffs. It’s a game that Kirby Smart should win.
