The Florida State Seminoles’ running game hopes for a better outcome in 2025 after a disastrous year of running the football. Their rushing offense consistently ranked at the bottom in every major category. Florida State averaged 89.9 yards on 2.9 yards per attempt and 0.7 touchdowns per game, finishing 129th in yards, tied for 132nd in yards per attempt, and 130th in touchdowns per game among 134 FBS schools.
To make matters worse, the Seminoles lost Lawrance Toafili, their leading rusher, who departed to the New York Jets, leaving their running back position thin. Roydell Williams, their projected starter and active leader in rushing yards, is coming off a disappointing year, missing eight games with injury.
Because of this, they could add talent in the spring portal.

He started his college career at Oklahoma

Gavin Sawchuk committed to the Oklahoma Sooners as a four-star recruit for the 2022 season. Sawchuk had an up-and-down career with Oklahoma, being limited to two games in 2022, finishing as the leading rusher in 2023, and battling injuries and falling out of the rotation in 2024. He finished his tenure with 977 rushing yards on 176 carries and 11 touchdowns on the ground in 23 total games.
Sawchuk had an uneventful 2024 campaign, falling out of the rotation and missing time with injury. He rushed for 128 yards on 39 carries and one touchdown in nine games. He missed four games with a quad injury.
He entered the transfer portal following the addition of Jaydn Ott.
