Florida State football had an abysmal season in 2024. They went 2-10, lost nine of their first ten games, and scored 15.4 points per game, the fourth-worst mark in the FBS. Florida State’s horrific season came on the heels of one of their best in program history, a 13-1 showing that will forever be controversial. Following an undefeated regular season and an ACC title, the Florida State Seminoles became the first then-Power Five team to miss the College Football Playoff field despite running the table in a top conference.
This season, albeit in an expanded 12-team field, the Georgia Bulldogs are going through a similar experience. Owners of an 11-2 record and the SEC Championship game victors, Georgia will be without quarterback Carson Beck for the College Football Playoff quarterfinals against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. With Georgia still making the CFP as a two-seed, Florida State football fans flooded Twitter angrily, comparing the two squads.
Florida State Football Fans Angry With Georgia Bulldogs CFP Placement
According to On3:
NEW: Georgia QB Carson Beck is expected to miss the College Football Playoff quarterfinals,
@PeteNakos_ reports.
Beck has not been with the team since it returned to practice and workouts late last week.
The Georgia Bulldogs will not have superstar quarterback Carson Beck for their CFP matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Last season, the Florida State football program also lost their quarterback for the CFP, with the committee opting to omit them from national title contention. Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis, the fifth-place finisher for the Heisman Trophy Award, suffered a gruesome leg injury in the team’s second to final regular season game against North Alabama. Conversely, Beck could play later in the CFP, but Georgia lost two more games than the 2023 rendition of FSU.
With the 2023 Florida State football team and the 2024 Georgia Bulldogs each being conference winners and having quarterback injuries, but only the latter making the CFP, FSU fans did not take it well when Beck’s latest injury news surfaced on Thursday. Many of those same fans bashed the CFP on Twitter:
Their starting QB is out which means they shouldn’t be in playoffs right…right? https://t.co/9Dthwo7vUj

Georgia is required to forfeit since their starting QB is not available right? Thats what we were told last year, you are not allowed in the playoffs without your starting QB. https://t.co/oJcLZpbj2J

Disqualifying. I remember when this meant you couldn't be in the playoffs.

So uh… why they in the playoffs?
— Mr. Sarcastic Logic (@Sarcasm_n_logic) December 20, 2024
Florida State should take Georgia’s place in the playoff then

They should be disqualified unfortunately
