Ever since Davante Adams told the Las Vegas Raiders of his desire to be traded on Tuesday, the football world has been filled to the brim about speculation as to the whereabouts of his next destination,.
Davante Adams Planning On A Departure From Vegas
In theory, this decision makes sense: Adams is a receiver on the wrong side of 30 who, despite still being amongst the better receivers in the NFL, is no longer the dominant, elite force he once was. And, having come to Vegas to reunite with college quarterback, Derek Carr, who was subsequently cut in the 2023 offseason, there seems to be little reason for the 3 x All Pro talent to stick around on a perennially rebuilding, mediocre Raiders team.
Two teams that have been touted as the most likely procurers of the Fresno State alum’s services are the New York Jets – spearheaded by former Green Bay Packers teammate and 4 x MVP QB, Aaron Rodgers; and the Buffalo Bills, who are very much still in contention despite no longer having a bona fide #1 receiver since the departure of Stefon Diggs.
However, Adams – as many players who are in this position tend to enjoy doing, decided to post a cryptic message on his social media on Friday afternoon, that may or may not concern the persisting trade rumors, per Mike Garafolo.
Oh nothing, just Davante Adams posting a pic of Edgar Allen Poe… pic.twitter.com/7Usp4HbHfl

Fans Have Seemingly Uncovered The Secret Message From Edgar Allan Poe Picture
The Edgar Allan Poe story, whilst not exactly groundbreaking news, certainly caught many off-guard – with many of these no context posts often serving as a hidden message to a player’s future plans or next team.
In this case, there does not seem to be foolproof, self-evident message discernible from Adams’ Instagram story, but many online Twitter detectives have discovered a potential football related meaning to his post.
Davante Adams just tweeted a picture of Edgar Allen Poe.
Using my best detective skills, I remembered that Poe wrote the poem “The Raven”.
Maybe someone is on his way to Baltimore. This is also a huge, huge stretch lol pic.twitter.com/yH6Kjk96hW

Well, Davante Adams posted this, and Edgar Allen Poe is pretty famously from Baltimore (the Ravens are named after his poem), so… pic.twitter.com/8o6hlMYh9y

So, could this be a sign of the former Packer and Raider snubbing his former QB and heading to Maryland to pair with 2 x MVP Lamar Jackson and a Baltimore Ravens team that seems to be finding its way after an uncharacteristic 0-2 start?
Quite possibly, and whilst the Bills and Jets feel like more natural fits, the Ravens also make perfect sense; with only Zay Flowers acting as a high-end receiver and a slow start for All-Pro tight end, Mark Andrews, the addition of Davante Adams could galvanize an otherwise so-so receiving corps that remains the weakness of an otherwise Super Bowl calibre roster.

Others, however, interpret the future Hall of Fame’s post a little differently (perhaps more out of wish than cold, hard facts).
Edgar Allen Poe was famously a fan of the New York Jets I’m not worried

Edgar Allen Poe spent the last 5 years of his life living in New York City. It’s where he died.

Or, perhaps, Adams is taking this time back in the national spotlight to mess with fans and journalists alike, which I for one will certainly not chastise him for.
