The flooding in Central Texas over the July 4th holiday weekend impacted the Hunt Family, who own the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the weekend, the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans donated $500,000 to help communities in the Hill Country that were hit with flooding.
Per USA Today, 95 are confirmed dead, including 27 children, after flood waters rose 29 feet on Friday. Dozens of people were reported missing who were staying at Camp Mystic before the thunderstorm.
Family member of Kansas City Chiefs owner’s family died in floods
Per Fox News, 9-year-old Janie Hunt was one of the children camping at Camp Mystic who died in the floods, was a family member of Clark Hunt, the owner of the Chiefs. Per People, the family released a statement.
“We are devastated,” the statement reads.
Tavia Hunt, wife of Clark, posted a message on Instagram confirming the death of their family member.
“Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls,” Tavia wrote. “How do we trust a God who is supposed to be good, all knowing and all powerful, but who allows such terrible things to happen — even to children?
“That is a sacred and tender question-and one the Bible doesn’t shy away from. Scripture is filled with the cries of those whose hearts have been shattered, who still wrestle to trust the same God they believe allowed the pain.”

Crews continue to search for missing people. At least 10 girls and one counselor staying at Camp Mystic have not been found.
