The Detroit Lions have built a young and prolific supporting cast around quarterback Jared Goff, including Pro Bowl wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, but, could be big players in the trade market to add a big piece to put the group over the top.

Earlier this offseason, the Bengals (briefly) made St. Brown the highest-paid receiver in the sport, extending the homegrown star to a four-year deal worth $120.01 million, and also have emerging deep-threat Jameson Williams potentially taking on an expanded role opposite St. Brown in 2024.
However, The Lions could look to pull off a blockbuster trade to add a playmaker to put this group over the top as the franchise looks to take the final step toward a Super Bowl berth this upcoming season.
Could the Detroit Lions Trade for Tee Higgins?

Tee Higgins, set to play out the 2024 campaign on the franchise tag while collecting $20.8 million, requested a trade earlier this offseason and been the subject of rampant speculation that a deal could go down.
The Lions could be an ideal destination.
Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton put together a list of five potential Higgins trades that could go down this summer, including sending the playmaker with 24 career touchdowns to the Motor City.
Here’s the trade Moton proposes:
Cincinnati Bengals receive: 2025 second-round pick and a 2025 4th-round pick (via Philadelphia Eagles)
Detroit Lions receive: WR Tee Higgins
“The Detroit Lions shouldn’t take their foot off the gas after an appearance in the NFC Championship Game, Moton writes. “Not with $31 million in cap space.
“They have just opened their Super Bowl window with a top-five scoring offense. Perhaps they can advance a little further in the playoffs with, arguably, the NFL’s best-passing offense.
“Detroit’s opponents would have a difficult task in countering the No. 2 aerial attack from the previous year plus Higgins, who would also bolster a shallow receiver group.”
Higgins would potentially be a game-altering talent and give the Lions two potential 1,000-yard receiving options in Goff’s arsenal. Landing in Detroit would present a similar situation to the one Higgins would be exiting in Cincinnati, where he starred alongside Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd, leading the Bengals to a Super Bowl berth following the 2021 season.
Through his first four seasons, Higgins has caught 257 passes for 3,684 yards with 24 receiving touchdowns and would be a marquee addition to the Lions’ offense.
