“A Massive Price To Pay”: Detroit Lions Suggested To Make Blockbuster Trade This Offseason

The Detroit Lions had one of the best seasons in franchise history. Detroit finished the regular season with a 15-2 record and the number one seed before losing to the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round.

Detroit has won the NFC North in back-to-back seasons and they are looking to do it again next year. The Detroit Lions will look to be the NFL’s darling. Head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes will have some moves to make with the roster this offseason.

It is not a secret that the Detroit Lions will need help with a pass rush this offseason. Detroit was decimated by injuries this past NFL season. The Lions will need more help with a pass rush outside of Aidan Hutchinson.

The Bleacher Report Scouting Department Suggested that the Lions trade away this year’s first-round pick (28th overall), a 2026 first-round pick, and quarterback Hendon Hooker to the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby and a 2025 fifth-round pick (144th overall). This would be an interesting trade for both the Detroit Lions and the Raiders.

Would the Lions be willing to give up Hendon Hooker? They also would need to find a backup quarterback for Jared Goff. The Bleacher Report Scouting Department said:

“This one would be fun for a few reasons. For one, the Lions would be pushing their chips to the middle of the table in a major way. They would have a pass-rushing trio of Aidan Hutchinson, Crosby and Za’Darius Smith. The defense is losing its coordinator in Aaron Glenn, so the sheer talent on the defensive line could help new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard keep things going in the right direction.

This would be a massive price to pay for Crosby. Two first-round picks and a young quarterback in Hooker, who could wind up being a starter, is not an easy package to give up. However, the move could make the Lions the prohibitive favorite to win the championship next season.”

There is no question that the Detroit Lions will explore the market for a pass rusher. Maxx Crosby will not be the only name that they will call about. Cleveland Browns Myles Garrett will be another player that the Lions will call for this offseason. If Detroit traded for Crosby instead of Garrett, the move would be fine also.

Crosby last season recorded 45 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and five pass deflections. With Pete Carroll being the head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, it might be hard for a team like the Detroit Lions to make a trade for the star pass rusher. Detroit will need to make a move at the position no matter what this offseason if they want to win a Super Bowl title.
