The Denver Broncos knew they had to address the wide receiver position in free agency after ranking 26th in receptions and 24th in receiving yards last season. The Broncos traded Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns, reworked the contract of Tim Patrick, and signed Josh Reynolds.
One of their top receivers has two years left on his deal and wants to adjust his contract.

Courtland Sutton is in the third year of his 4-year, $60.8 million contract. He has a base salary of $13 million, $2 million guaranteed, and a cap hit of $17,395,576 for 2024. He also has a base salary of $13.5 million, $0 guaranteed, and a cap hit of $17,825,000 for 2025.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Sutton wants his contract adjusted so he can have more guaranteed money since he won’t have any after the 2024 season.
“Sutton is due $13M in base salary ($2M guaranteed) and would like an adjustment based on his role as a team leader in a transitional year and ongoing quarterback instability (playing for nine different QBs since 2018).
“This is the second consecutive offseason that he’s garnered trade interest.”
He skipped voluntary workouts as he is seeking a new contract.

The Broncos front office isn’t concerned about him skipping voluntary workouts because the workouts are “voluntary.”
“It’s 100 percent voluntary,” Broncos General Manager George Paton said Thursday, via Gabriel Parker of the Denver Post. “It’s the first week of the offseason program. Sean [Payton] has talked to Courtland. I’ve talked to Courtland. He’s in a good place and we’ll just leave it at that.”
