The Denver Broncos offense had an underwhelming 2023 campaign, ranking 19th in points, 26th in total yards, and 24th in passing.
Denver will be looking to improve their offense this offseason and have already made a few roster moves, including releasing Russell Wilson, trading Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland, and renegotiating the contract of their wide receiver.
The Denver Broncos renegotiated the contract of their starting receiver.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, Denver and Tim Patrick agreed to renegotiate his contract by lowering his base salary from $9.5 million to the veteran minimum of $1.125 million and his cap number from $15.572 million to $7.197 million, freeing up $8 million in cap space for 2024.
Patrick can make another $1.2 million in incentives and $170,000 in per-game roster bonuses ($10,000 per game).
With this recent roster move, Denver should have $30.5 million in cap space.
Tim Patrick signed a 3-year extension in 2021.
Patrick signed a 3-year, $34 million contract extension on November 19, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
Patrick appeared in 16 games in 2021, recording 53 receptions on 85 targets for 734 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 3.3 receptions per game, 8.6 yards per target, 13.8 yards per reception, and 45.9 yards per game.
Patrick missed the entire 2022 season because he tore his ACL during practice on August 2.
Patrick missed the entire 2023 season because he tore his Achilles during practice on July 31.
What will their receiving corps look like next season?
Depending on what they do with Courtland Sutton this offseason, Denver’s top three receivers will likely be Tim Patrick, Courtland Sutton, and Marvin Mims.
Patrick is back for the 2024 season, and hopefully, he can stay healthy.
