Denver Broncos: “I Asked To Be Traded” Statement Goes Viral (Report)

The Denver Broncos are looking forward to their fresh start after the Russell Wilson experiment didn’t go as planned.  The Broncos had high hopes that their massive trade for Wilson would have similar results that Peyton Manning had on the franchise: win a Super Bowl.

Instead, Denver went 11-19 with Wilson as a starter.  Now they’re turning to Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham, and Zach Wilson at QB.

However, one recent comment from a former player signified he was ready to move on from such a tumultuous situation.

A few high-profile changes were made to the Denver Broncos’ roster during the 2024 off-season. Russell Wilson and Justin Simmons were among the biggest cuts. They also traded Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland.

Apparently, nothing about Jeudy’s trade surprised him:

“It didn’t come out of the blue at all,” Jeudy said after practice on August 4, per The Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson on August 5. “I’m the one that decided that. I made the decision to come (to Cleveland) and I’m excited with my decision. … I actually came up to (the Broncos) and asked that I wanted a new atmosphere, a new change of scenery.”

“I want to be able to reach my full potential and I feel like that wasn’t going on (in Denver),” Jeudy said, per Tomasson. “So hopefully I get to be able to grow and win games and reach the goals that I want to reach.”

“I wouldn’t just say it was Payton’s system,’’ Jeudy said about his step back, per Tomasson. “It’s just a lot for a receiver. You need everything to come together and connect all at once to be able to get the ball a lot.”

Jeudy will be looking to make the playoffs for the first time in his career in Cleveland.  The Browns are coming off an 11-6 year that saw them reach the post-season, but were bounced in the first round by the Houston Texans.
