The Denver Broncos completed mandatory minicamp a week ago last Thursday and will have a month off until training camp begins. Rookies start training camp on July 17, and veterans start on July 23.
The Broncos currently have two of their three starting cornerback spots locked in. Patrick Surtain II starts on the outside, and Ja’Quan McMillian starts in the slot, leaving the outside cornerback spot opposite Surtain vacant.
Their starter departed in free agency.
The Denver Broncos’ CB2 departed in free agency

Fabian Moreau took over as the CB2 in Week 7 and started the last 11 games. Moreau did a decent job, recording 46 tackles, one interception, seven pass deflections, and a 62.4 PFF grade. He remains a free agent.
Three players will compete for the CB2 spot.
Cornerback #1

The first player competing for the starting spot is Damarri Mathis. Mathis, a former 4th-round pick, is in his third year and has played 33 games with 17 starts.
Mathis took over as the starting cornerback and started the last 11 games after Ronald Darby tore his ACL in Week 5 of the 2022 season. He had 65 tackles, seven pass deflections, and a 65.6 PFF grade.
Mathis won the starting job heading into the 2023 season. He played 17 games and started six, with 35 tackles, one pass deflection, and a 35.2 PFF grade. The Broncos benched him and replaced him with Moreau.
Cornerback #2

The second player competing for the starting spot is Levi Wallace. Wallace is on his third team and is in his seventh year. He has played 83 games and started 70 so far. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023, playing 16 games and starting nine, with 38 tackles, two interceptions, 11 pass deflections, and a 57.8 PFF grade.
Player #3

The third player competing for the starting spot is Riley Moss. Moss, a former 3rd-round pick, is in his second year. He missed all of training camp, preseason, and three games because of a core muscle injury. He played 14 games with six tackles in 23 defensive snaps and 265 special teams snaps.
Many people believe Moss is in the mix to start next season.
