Deion Sanders is on top of the college football world. Since taking the job at Colorado, the team has been must-see television. The viewership on Colorado’s games has been through the roof as people are looking to see how Coach Prime does. Sanders loves this and wants the country to be able to see his team in action. For this reason, he does not like late games and called them the “stupidest thing ever” in a recent interview.
Deion Sanders Is Not A Fan Of Late Games
Being in the Pac-12 means some late starts for the East Coast. “Pac-12 After Dark” has become a cultural term in the college football world as many of the games go to the wee hours of the morning. Sanders is not a fan.
“Who makes these 8 o’clock games? Dumbest thing ever. Stupidest thing ever invented in life. Who wants to stay up until 8 o’clock for a darn game? What about the East Coast — do they even care about ratings? Is anyone watching it? What are we supposed to do with the kids all day until 8 o’clock? What are we supposed to do in the hotel?”
Sanders wants his games to be at convenient times for the entire country to watch. The noon games also work better for the players as they do not have as much time to kill before the game. Ultimately, there is not much that can be done as college football wants to put games throughout the day.
Doesn’t Seem To Matter
Colorado faced off against Colorado State in a late game and the ratings were still extremely high. Deion Sanders is an incredibly likable figure who people want to watch. His team also has become one of the most fun teams to consume whether they win or lose. While the team got trounced by Oregon, they were much closer to USC. Regardless of what happens with this season, Colorado is entertaining and does not have any issue attracting viewers no matter what time they play.
Deion Sanders isn’t a fan of the late games and being a 40-hour work-week man in his 30s I understand the sentiment of wanting an earlier game. However, most people including myself will fight off drowsiness in order to get a glimpse of this fun team.
