Indianapolis Colts Rookie Safety Daniel Scott tore his anterior cruciate ligament at practice Wednesday and is out for the season according to ESPN Reporter Adam Schefter. Scott’s season ended prematurely and now he focuses on rehabbing.
Scott was a productive player at the University of California. Scott finished his collegiate career with 207 tackles. Scott recorded a sack, 14 pass deflections, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles and recovered a fumble.
Scott’s injury is brutal and will set him back for months to come. The hope is Scott comes back stronger and ready to make an impact on Indy’s roster.
Scott was selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
Depth at Safety
Fortunately, Indianapolis has depth at safety. Indianapolis has eight other safeties on its roster. Julian Blackmon is the veteran of the group. Rodney Thomas and Nick Cross are second-year players expected to make a big jump in 2023.
