Trevor Lawrence’s injury in the game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans sparked a heated discussion about payer safety and NFL injuries. The quarterback was injured by Houston linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, who hit him after he started his slide movement. The injury immediately led to a brawl on the field, with many blaming Shaair.
Lawrence was taken out of the field with a concussion, and is recovering to return to play. Meanwhile, the already struggling Jacksonville Jaguars will struggle even more without their main quarterback. Mac Jones will take Lawrence’s place on the field until doctors give him the green signal to get back on the field.
“I do think it’s important for quarterbacks to really take it upon themselves. And by no means, in my opinion, this [is] on Trevor Lawrence at all. I know that to be clear, the slide exposes you more to those hits. “ ESPN sports analyst Don Orlovsky discussed on NFL on ESPN.
It really needs to become an emphasis, something that coaches coach, you practice, Shannon, Stephen, when you dive you protect yourself from those hits. It’s almost like an unathletic stumble. You want to stumble now? Open field, no one around, you slide. But if you get in close proximity, it’s a dive to make sure that you’re not taking those shots anymore. I do think that that’s something the quarterbacks as a whole have to start doing” Orlovsky went on.
Meanwhile, without Trevor Lawrence, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost with a close score of 23-20 after Mac Jones went for 235 yards, completing 20 passes out of 32, scoring two TDs. In terms of rushing, Travis Etienne Jr. managed 13 carries for 46 yards, while Parker Washington defended with six receptions for 103 yards, with a single score.
Trevor Lawrence May Be Benched For The Rest Of The Season
Meanwhile, it is still unclear as to when Trevor Lawrence will be back on the field. It also may be possible that the player may not make it back for the rest of the season. All this depends on how the player clears the concussion protocol by the Head, Neck and Spine committee in the National Football League.
Unfortunately, Lawrence does not only have his concussion to worry about. The player also sprained his left acromioclavicular joint in NFL Week 9, which thankfully did not get aggravated in the most recent injury.
