The Dallas Cowboys might get rid of their newly promoted head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, right after the 2025 NFL season, according to former quarterback, Cam Newton. In his most recent appearance on ESPN’s ‘First Take’, Newton went on to say that promoting Schottenheimer to head coach from offensive coordinator and then getting rid of him after a solo season was Dallas owner Jerry Jones’ way of ensuring the first pick of the draft.
In doing so, Jones might actually get Arch Manning to play for the Dallas Cowboys in the next season. Arch Manning currently plays for the Texas Longhorns, who he joined back in 2023. In the 2024 college football season, Manning managed 939 yards, scoring nine touchdowns along with a pair of interceptions.
“I think they’re tanking for Arch. Make it make sense. Coach Schottenheimer has one-and-done written all over him. Why do you want one and done? You get the first pick of the draft. Not only that, I’m going to go back into my Godfather bag and say, “Ok, Jerry Jones is a businessman, and he’s going to get into his Don Corleone mentality and he’s going to give him a deal he can’t refuse.” Cam Newton said on ESPN’s ‘First Take’.
NEW: Cam Newton believes Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have a master plan to draft Arch Manning and hire Nick Saban🫣

In addition to perhaps bringing Arch Manning to their team after losing in the 2025 NFL season, Jerry Jones might also try his best to bring former coach Nick Saban to the team. Saban was the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide college football team from 2007 to 2024, and now has retired from the game.
Dallas Cowboys Hiring Schottenheimer An Unorthodox Move As Per Ron Rivera
The Dallas Cowboys deciding to promote their in-house offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, to head coach, instead of getting someone else from the outside has surprised and shocked NFL fans and analysts. In fact, many discussion forums have been studying the move, and speculating reasons behind it.
In speaking to ‘First Things First’, former NFL player and coach, Ron Rivera called the move ‘unorthodox’. Rivera also went on to say that the Cowboys deciding to promote their offensive coordinator says a lot about their intent to keep their offense as similar as possible to their previous seasons.
Rivera also explained that it would be quite easy to change a team’s defense, but a lot harder to make edits to a squad’s offense, which might be why the Dallas Cowboys decided to go with Schottenheimer as head coach.
