The Dallas Cowboys have been having a tough offseason to say the least. Their star receiver CeeDee Lamb is heading into the final season of his rookie contract, and the team is yet to sign him to the new deal that he obviously deserves.
There have been some concerns and rumors about Lamb potentially holding out to begin this season and wait until he receives the huge contract that he deserves. Now, Lamb has revealed his decision on the possible holdout to start the 2024 season.
CeeDee Lamb Does Not Plan To Holdout… For Now
At least for now, Lamb is saying that there are no plans for him to holdout for the 2024 season. Lamb spoke with TMZ Sports recently and answered questions about the rumors of him holding out for this season. He mad it clear, that as of now, he will be on the field for week 1.
“Yeah, I’ll be in Dallas!” Lamb told TMZ, reportedly adding that his No. 1 priority for the near future is “winning with Dak Prescott and the rest of Big D.”
Lamb has been vocal that he wants to remain with the Dallas Cowboys for the entirety of his career. He took to his teammate Micah Parsons’ podcast and said that it is “no secret” he wants to be a Cowboy for life.
However, he did not say that he would be willing to take less money to stay with the team as he knows what he is worth. CeeDee was statistically the best in the business this past year and is just approaching his prime. He knows that he is deserving of a huge contract.
“I can’t give you no numbers right now, but I’ll tell you this, one of the top paid receivers for sure, if not the highest-paid wide receiver,” Lamb said at the time. “That’s always the goal.”
Dallas Cowboys Have Something Special With CeeDee Lamb
Lamb had all career highs in the 2023 season and was pretty much the best in the NFL at his position. He logged 135 catches, which is all time, for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. Some of those numbers were the best in the NFL for the season.
The first round pick was selected for his first time for All-Pro honors and was third in voting for the offensive player of the year. It is clear that Lamb took his game to the next level last year and he deserves to be paid like one of the best receivers in the NFL.
While he has now said that there are no plans for a holdout, the Cowboys need to pay the man soon or else they may see him across the field suiting up for an opponent in the very near future.
