The Dallas Cowboys are currently in the market for a defensive coordinator. This comes after Dan Quinn accepted the Washington Commanders’ head coach position. Well, there is a chance the Cowboys can strike back and take someone who used to work for the Commanders.
Dallas Cowboys Met With Ron Rivera
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys met with former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera. Recently, he was fired by Washington after coaching the team for four seasons. Before that, he was the Carolina Panthers’ head coach for nine seasons. Now, Rivera is looking for a fresh start with a potential division rival.
Competition for the Job
Rivera is not the only former head coach linked to this position. The report also revealed that Mike Zimmer was meeting with the Cowboys regarding their defensive coordinator position. He was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-21.
Dallas Cowboys Moving Forward
After getting upset in the first round of the playoffs by the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys look to run it back with 2024. One thing is for sure. With players such as Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs, and DaRon Bland to work with, the Cowboys’ DC position should be desirable.
