The Dallas Cowboys, as always, will be one of the most-followed teams in the NFL this season. “America’s Team,” as they are known, have fans all around the country who will be anxious to see the team try to improve upon their disappointing 7-10 record from a season ago.

With Mike McCarthy out as head coach, the Cowboys have turned to his offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, to lead the team forward. But while their new head coach is confident that his team will win many games in 2025, fans are understandably hesitant to get too optimistic.

Sure, Dak Prescott will be healthy again; but the fact of the matter is that Dallas has underperformed for going on three decades now. That being said, one Cowboys insider believes one of their high-profile offseason moves could help put the offense over the hump.

Dallas Cowboys Insider Believes George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb Could Be the NFL’s Best Wide Receiver Duo

Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys made a surprising trade, sending a 2026 third round pick and 2027 fifth round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver George Pickens and a 2027 fifth round pick. The move was expected by many as they believed Pittsburgh had grown tired of the drama that has followed Pickens for the entirety of his NFL career.

But while he may have some locker room/behavior concerns, there is no denying the fact that Pickens is a really good wide receiver. So good, in fact, that Saad Yousef of The Athletic believes that he and CeeDee Lamb could be the best wide receiver duo in the NFL:

“The George Pickens hype is understandable. The Cowboys essentially acquired Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a third-round pick. If early showings are any indication, the move has big boom potential. Obviously, there’s a reason the Steelers moved on from Pickens but those concerns are more with his attitude and demeanor.

“In terms of actual talent, there are very few questions. Pickens is a big-bodied receiver, a downfield threat and supreme complement to what CeeDee Lamb has already provided to the offense. If Pickens keeps his head on straight, Dallas could have one of the league’s most dynamic receiving duos.”

Last season, Pickens had 59 receptions for 900 yards and three touchdowns (in 14 games) while catching passes from the likes of Justin Fields and an aged Russell Wilson. The year prior, he had 63 receptions for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns (while leading the NFL with 18.1 yards per reception) while catching passes from Kenny Pickett.

With Prescott as his quarterback, and Lamb running with him to keep opponents from double-teaming him, Pickens has everything he needs to have a monster season in Dallas.

That is, except a running game. Once again, the Cowboys have done little to address the running back position, allowing Rico Dowdle to depart in free agency and hoping that Javonte Williams can emerge as their next star ball carrier.

And, perhaps, he might. Until he does, though, the Cowboys offense will be, once again, one-dimensional.
