Sources to ESPN: Jonathan Taylor and the Colts reached agreement on a three-year, $42 million contract extension, including $26.5M guaranteed, that makes him one of the league’s highest-paid RBs and clears him to make his season debut Sunday vs. Titans.

Jonathan Taylor Contract
This contract comes as a surprise as the Colts and Jonathan Taylor were discussing the star running back being traded just before the start of the 2023 season, which can be the reason the Colts decided to pay him. Jonathan Taylor’s deal includes a three-year, $42 million deal with $26.5 million in guaranteed money.
Even though the star running back had a tough year in 2022, he has still emerged as one of the best in the NFL. In his rookie season in 2020, Taylor rushed for a whopping 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns. Then in 2021, he exploded for 1,811 rushing yards, 40 catches for 360 yards giving him 20 total touchdowns on the year.
Jonathan Taylor Career
In 2022, Taylor suffered multiple ankle injuries which cut his season short. This caused Indianapolis to plummet to a record of 4-12-1 that season. It is clear that his presence is felt amongst the team, and will most likely make an impact on the Colts this season.
Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson will love having Taylor in the backfield taking some of the weight off of his shoulders. Indianapolis has gotten off to a 2-2 record, which has them in a four-way tie for first place in the AFC South. It will be interesting to see if the presence of Jonathan Taylor will help Indy soar and become the divisional champions.
