Colorado football has a leader at the helm. Across ten games, superstar quarterback Shedeur Sanders paces the Big 12 with 27 passing touchdowns, a 163 rating, and a 73% completion percentage. He has also thrown for 3,222 yards with four rushing touchdowns. More notably, after the Colorado Buffaloes won just one game two seasons ago, Sanders has the now-Big 12 team at 8-2 and in the driver’s seat regarding their College Football Playoff hopes.

A four-year starter previously playing with the Jackson State Tigers, Sanders will leave Boulder, Colorado, this offseason, eyeing a top-ten selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. With head coach Deion Sanders turning Colorado into a conference title contender seemingly overnight, the team’s succession plan following the departure of their quarterback has gained steam. However, on Sunday, a five-star quarterback prospect decommitted from a powerhouse West Coast program, with Colorado fans expecting him to land with the Buffaloes for the 2025 season.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3:

Breaking: Elite 2025 QB Julian Lewis has Decommitted from USC, he tells me for @on3recruits.

The 6’0 185 QB from Carrollton, GA, had been Committed to the Trojans since August 2023.

On Sunday, mega prospect Julian Lewis denounced his commitment to the USC Trojans, a position he has held for over a year. Lewis, a five-star prospect and the fifth-ranked quarterback in the 247Sports Composite rankings, has long held the position of playing for quarterback guru Lincoln Riley at USC. However, he will reopen his recruiting, with Lewis visiting the Colorado football program earlier this month for a gameday experience.

Per the 247Sports Crystal Ball projections, Lewis has a “100%” chance to land with Colorado football and replace superstar Shedeur Sanders as the latter heads to the NFL. This season, Carrollton High School is 11-0 with Julian Lewis under center. The passer has thrown for 2,842 yards and 40 touchdowns against four picks. Many Colorado football fans expect Lewis’ decommitment to ultimately lead to the blue-chip prospect playing for head coach Deion Sanders next season:
