The Colorado football program did not compete during championship weekend. On Saturday, the Arizona State Sun Devils beat the Iowa State Cyclones, earning the auto-bid for the College Football Playoff. Although the Colorado Buffaloes did not make the CFP, they had a fantastic regular season, surpassing offseason expectations and going 9-3, their best season since 2016. Offensively, Colorado scored nearly 35 points per game, housing one of the best passing attacks in college football. Conversely, Colorado was hit or miss on defense for a second consecutive season under head coach Deion Sanders.
Nevertheless, quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ standout campaign has the signal-caller mocked as a top-ten selection in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. The younger Sanders has routinely sent cryptic tweets suggesting he wants to play for the Las Vegas Raiders, coached by former NFL linebacker Antonio Pierce. On Saturday, a Colorado Buffaloes fan account shared a video of Deion Sanders praising Pierce while telling the organization to draft Shedeur and his other son, safety Shilo Sanders. With Shilo Sanders’ significant struggles this season, fans quickly bashed Coach Prime after he advocated for his middle son’s draft stock.

On Saturday, a video went viral of Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce speaking alongside Colorado football frontman Deion Sanders, praising the NFL bench boss. Towards the end, he asked Pierce to do just one thing, “draft those Sanders boys.” Sanders’ youngest son, Shedeur Sanders, is one of the most prolific passers in college football, throwing for 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. However, his other son, safety Shilo Sanders, struggles mightily, especially in coverage. He finished the season with 59 tackles, two TFLs, one sack, and no interceptions.
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Shilo Sanders projects as an undrafted free agent as the 50th-ranked defensive back. On the heels of Deion Sanders advocating for his son Shilo Sanders’ draft stock, college football fans did not hesitate to put the Colorado football leadman in their crosshairs:
