The Colorado Buffaloes have had a busy 48 hours. While most of the attention is on the NFL, the Buffs made several important coaching moves. The first of which was confirming the hiring of NFL legend Marshall Faulk
One of the greatest to ever play the game.

In January, it was announced that Faulk was expected to become Colorado’s running backs coach. Now, they have made it official. Faulk was just the first of many dominos to fall for Coach Prime’s staff.
Robert Livingston
Livingston had an excellent season. In his first season as a defensive coordinator, ever he made Colorado’s defense legit. In 2023 the Buffs gave up an average of 34.8 points per game and 453.3 yards per game, both ranking in the bottom ten in all of college football. But in 2024, Livingston had the Buffs only allowing 23.1 points per game and 351.9 yards per game. Both of those ranked about average in all of college football.
Livingston’s work on the defense was one of the main reasons the Buffs won nine games this season. That earned him a new two-year extension. He is set to make $1.5 million this season, and $1.6 million in 2026. That makes him the highest-paid assistant coach in Colorado history.

Offensive Line Hires
Adding Marshall Faulk to the coaching staff wasn’t the only offensive hire for the Colorado Buffaloes. They also promoted Gunnar White from quality control analyst to offensive line coach and hired former Buffalo Andre Gurode as an assist offensive line coach.
Gurode was a star during his time as a Buff, he was named a first-team All-American in 2001. Gurode then went on to have an 11-year NFL career and made five Pro Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys. Coach Prime and Gurode never played together in Dallas, but Sanders loves bringing in NFL talent to his coaching staff.
Former Colorado Buffalo star and Dallas Cowboy Andre Gurode will be joining Colorado’s staff as assistant offensive line coach.
With the announcement of Marshall Faulk joining the staff as well, Coach Prime continues to add NFL experience and pedigree to the Colorado staff.

As for Gunnar White, he’s been with Coach Prime since Jackson State in 2022. White has plenty of coaching and playing experience at various places throughout the country, and has now finally found a home in Colorado with Coach Prime. This will be White’s biggest job yet saying”
“I’m excited for the opportunity and ready to get to work.”
Colorado Buffaloes Football Future
The Colorado Buffaloes are finally dishing out money to their football program. Something they haven’t done under Athletic Director Rick George. And all of that is because of Deion Sanders.
After the 2024 season ended, Coach Prime requested more money for NIL deals and coaching assistants but was shot down. Then Coach Prime’s name was being tied to the Dallas Cowboy’s Head Coaching job.

Now who knows if Coach Prime was using the Dallas job for leverage or not. Either way it seems like his wish was granted. With Colorado’s football budget rising, expect Coach Prime to receive a contract extension in the near future.
