The College Football Playoff committee will finalize their 12-team postseason field in less than one week. On Tuesday, the CFP updated their standings, shuffling them following a flurry of upsets last weekend, including Ohio State losing at home against Michigan as a three-touchdown favorite. However, it was Miami, fresh off an upset road loss to Syracuse, that fell outside the top 12, with the Alabama Crimson Tide taking their spot. Following Miami, the first teams out of the postseason are a pair of SEC teams, South Carolina and Ole Miss.
On Wednesday, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin criticized the College Football Playoff committee for placing his team behind Miami despite having one more loss. Kiffin took to social media, slamming the committee for making the ACC seem “relevant,” much to the anger of college football fans.
College Football Fans Clown Lane Kiffin After Viral Tweet
According to Lane Kiffin on Twitter:
You guys actually meet for days and come up with these rankings?? @CFBPlayoff Do you actually watch the quality of players, teams, and road environments (we played in one of yours this year ) or just try and make the ACC feel relevant ?? Btw one of your teams paid us not to play again next year. Same #12 spot you guys had Clemson ranked last week. How did that go against the @SEC ??? Rewatch UGA Clemson closely if you want a reminder of the two conferences. #SpotTheBall anywhere @ACCFootball #RemeberTakeAKnee
Kiffin did not mince words when taking aim at the College Football Playoff committee, claiming they do not watch the games after putting Miami ahead of Ole Miss in the latest rankings. Miami went 10-2 this season, failing to make the ACC championship and owning zero wins against currently ranked teams. Meanwhile, Ole Miss went 9-3, failing to make their conference title game, but owns ranked wins over Georgia and South Carolina.
However, the most significant mark against Ole Miss this season was a brutal home loss against the Kentucky Wildcats in late September. Ole Miss closed as a two-touchdown favorite. With conference championship weekend on the horizon, the Alabama Crimson Tide are pacing to be the only three-loss team to make the CFP, despite unranked losses to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. Nevertheless, College Football fans clowned Kiffin for taking to social media as a way to push Ole Miss for the CFP:

Hi Coach.
Don't lose three times.
Sincerely,
Everyone.

You are using the transitive property to lobby that Georgia crushing Clemson in WEEK 1 should help your cause??
Well then certainly you feel the same about Miami demolishing the same Florida Gators team that ate your lunch, right? At least be consistent, man.— Porcelain Picks (@PicksFromToilet) December 4, 2024
You lost to 3 unranked opponents one of which Miami blew the doors off of. You hate is misplaced tough guy.

Cry me a river Lane if you can't
Make the playoff in the SEC you don't deserve to be a coach. All you have to do is show up to your games and the media will talk about how gr8 you and put you in.— Wiley Smith (@Heeels4Lyfee) December 4, 2024
Does Ole Miss deserve a spot? No.
Did Kiffin kinda cook here? Absolutely
