Chip Kelly was the offensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes this past season under head coach Ryan Day. Ohio State won the National Championship against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
This offseason, the Buckeyes already lost their defensive coordinator. Chip Kelly was gaining interest to be on the Las Vegas Raiders coaching staff after Pete Carroll was hired as head coach last week. The Raiders are looking to make some noise in the 2025 NFL season.
Chip Kelly Hired To Be Las Vegas Raiders Offensive Coordinator
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders will be set to hire Chip Kelly as the next offensive coordinator. With Kelly leaving the Buckeyes, it will be interesting to see who Ryan Day will replace him with next season.
This was a very good hire for Las Vegas. They are trying to be a relevant team once again in the NFL after finishing with a 4-13 record last season. The Raiders however will need to find a quarterback for Chip Kelly to coach next season. They may sign Russell Wilson this offseason to reunite with Carroll.

Was GREAT for Ohio State— Mr. Sarcastic Logic (@Sarcasm_n_logic) February 2, 2025
This is not the first rodeo for Kelly being in the NFL. He was a head coach in the NFL before with the Philadelphia Eagles. Chip Kelly going back to the NFL to be an offensive coordinator with the Las Vegas Raiders is an interesting move.
As for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is there a chance that Brian Hartline, the wide receivers coach gets promoted to offensive coordinator for head coach Ryan Day? It remains to be seen, but the Buckeyes will need to replace two pivotal coordinators this offseason before the 2025 college football season.
