The Penn State Nittany Lions faced the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Orange Bowl on Thursday night in the college football playoffs semifinals in Miami, Florida. One of the biggest stories in this game was Penn State quarterback Drew Allar.
All eyes were on him because even though he is returning for 2025, some think that he could still leave and enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Allar threw a bad interception late in the game with the game tied at 24. Notre Dame won the game over Penn State 27-24.
College Football Fans React To Penn State Nittany Lions Quarterback Drew Allar Performance In the Orange Bowl
There were a lot of Nittany Lions fans and other college football fans who were critical of Allar’s performance on Thursday night. Allar only completed 52.2% of his passes for 135 yards and one interception.
He didn’t throw a touchdown pass and there were no completions to a wide receiver in the game. There is no doubt that Allar needs to stay in college next year and not even think about the NFL Draft. This is what some of the college football fans had to say after the game:

Drew Allar is one of the worst, most over-hyped QB’s I’ve ever seen play football.

With Penn State falling short, Allar probably feels like he has unfinished business with the Nittany Lions next season. If he stays with the Nittany Lions and should, he will be one of the highly rated prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft.
This past season, he completed 66.5% of his passes for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Allar also rushed for 302 yards on 96 carries and six touchdowns, along with averaging 3.1 yards per carry.
