The Alabama Crimson Tide missed the college football playoff last season under first-year head coach Kalen DeBeor. It was a transition year for the program after Nick Saban retired.

Alabama had a 9-3 record during the regular season and they lost to the Michigan Wolverines in a bowl game. Jalen Milroe was the quarterback for the Crimson Tide for the last couple of seasons. With his name expected to be called in the 2025 NFL Draft, there will be a major battle for the starting quarterback position for Alabama this spring.
Former Alabama Crimson Tide Quarterback Greg McElroy Speaks Out About the Quarterback Competition

One of the biggest questions for Alabama’s football program entering the 2025 season will be who will be the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide in the fall. Greg McElroy of always college football talked about the quarterback battle for the Alabama Crimson Tide this spring. McElroy said,
“Three-way quarterback battle, Ty Simpson is certainly the man to beat, but don’t be surprised if this conversation and competition goes all the way into fall camp.”
For now, Ty Simpson is the number one quarterback on the depth chart. Austin Mack is projected to be the second quarterback and Keelon Russell is projected to be the third quarterback on the roster. Simpson didn’t see much action last season. He completed 56.0% of his passes for 167 yards. It will be interesting to see how this battle develops heading into the summer months and the fall as well.
Fans React

A QB change should have been made during last season. It became clear Jalen Milroe wasn’t working in the new system. There were a couple of ugly games where Ty Simpson should have been put in.

Interestingly, one of the fans thinks that Ty Simpson should have played in more live game action last season for the Alabama Crimson Tide. With Jalen Milroe not on the team anymore, it will be the biggest question for this football program this offseason.
