The Cleveland Browns have been in the running for San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Aiyuk has been asking for a trade for months since the 49ers won’t offer him a new contract. Aiyuk wants a long-term deal, and the Browns have been willing to give him one, but it doesn’t seem like he wants to play there.
Cleveland and San Franciso seemed to have a deal in place, but Aiyuk did not want to agree to it since the 49ers were letting him choose the team that was giving him the best contract.
Since Brandon Aiyuk won’t be heading to Cleveland, the team could be looking to add a Pro Bowl wide receiver who was cut on Friday.
Cleveland Browns Could Sign A Former Pro Bowler And Super Bowl Champion
JuJu Smith-Schuster saw his days with the New England Patriots end after their first preseason game Thursday night, and now he is a free agent.
The veteran wide receiver has fallen off the last few years, but he still has a little left in the tank and could be an okay addition to a team that should add another wide receiver.
Smith-Schuster made the Pro Bowl in 2018 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022.
It couldn’t hurt for the Cleveland Browns to sign Smith-Schuster and see what he has left in the tank. Injuries can happen at any time in the NFL, and Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore have missed some time in the past, so having another veteran body could help if anyone were to go down.
