The Cleveland Browns are sitting at their bye week with a 2-7 record, and the only thing they can do now is turn the page to next season.
Cleveland will most likely be picking in the Top Five, and they will need to address the quarterback spot with Deshaun Watson having a torn Achilles, and it’s not like he was playing well to start with.
The Browns must find a new signal caller for the 2025 season, and if they don’t draft one, they will need to find a veteran.
Since Cleveland is out of the playoffs, the only good thing about the team is now looking at mock drafts, and one new NFL Mock Draft has the Browns not taking a quarterback but getting some defensive help instead.
Cleveland Browns Add A Star Pass Rusher
CBS Sports Josh Edwards published a mock draft after this week’s trade deadline, and the Browns are taking Georgia pass rusher Mykel Williams with the fifth overall pick. And stated, “Cleveland moved veteran pass rusher Za’Darius Smith at the trade deadline, so there is a need opposite Myles Garrett. In an ideal world, there would be a quarterback of the future, but short of moving up, the Browns may be better served pursuing other opportunities. Left tackle could be an area of need if Dawand Jones fumbles his current opportunity.
Cleveland can’t go wrong with going after another pass rusher since they need a young guy to complement Myles Garrett, but getting help on the offensive line or quarterback makes much more sense now.

Of course, the Browns could make moves in the offseason at both of those spots and free them up to do whatever with their first pick, but until those holes are filled, they can’t go after any defensive player.
